Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)

Excessive sweating is common and can affect the whole body or only in certain areas. It’s normal to sweat if you’re hot or exercising, but you may be sweating excessively in unusual situations, such as in cooler weather or for no obvious reason.

Hyperhidrosis can be uncomfortable, causing social anxiety and embarrassment. It can be due to another condition you may have or as a side effect of the medications you are taking.

The commonly affected areas of the body are the armpits, hands, feet, and face. To help to reduce excessive sweating, Botulinum Toxin Type A (BTX-A) can be applied to the affected area which will block the signals from the brain to the sweat glands.
